Nicoleta Cinpoeş is Professor of Shakespeare Studies at the University of Worcester, UK, where she teaches early modern literature, Shakespeare in performance, and screen adaptation, and directs the Early Modern Research Group there. Author of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in Romania 1778-2008 (Mellen Press, 2010), editor and contributor to Doing Kyd (MUP: 2016), and Europe’s Shakespeare(s) special issue of Cahiers Élisabéthains 96 (2017), she has published articles in The New Theatre Quarterly, Cahiers Élisabéthains, Shakespeare Bulletin, SEDERI, Theatralia. She is general editor for Romania for Reviewing Shakespeare (http://blogging shakespeare.com/reviewing-shakespeare/) and sits on the editorial board of the book series Shakespeare and European Culture and of several journals: Cultural Intertext, Romanian Shakespeare Journal, Acta Iassyensia Comparationis. She is peer reviewer for META: Translators’ Journal, Borrowers and Lenders, Brno Studies in English Journal, SEDERI, Cahiers Élisabéthains, and Shakespeare. In the theatre, she has worked in several capacities, from that of dramaturge to assistant director and translator. For the modernised translation of Shakespeare’s Complete Works in Romanian (2010-2020), she has written the introductions to Hamlet (2010) and Titus Andronicus (2019). In the past two year she co-translated, with Jozefina Komporaly, The Golden Round: Essays on the Politics of Power in Shakespeare (2018) and Act(ing) and Mimesis: Essays on the Philosophy of the Actor, two volumes by director Mihai Măniuţiu. For the past two decades, she has been a proactive member of prestigious scholarly associations: ESRA: the European Shakespeare Research Association, to whose Board she has been elected in 2017; ISA: the International Shakespeare Association, for which she has convened seminars; BSA: the British Shakespeare Association, and the International Shakespeare Conference, Stratford-upon-Avon, as an invited member. She has worked with Shakespeare festivals in the European Shakespeare Festivals Network for over a decade, and she has been organising the ESRA Shakespeare in Performance Seminar series at the International Shakespeare Festival, Craiova, since 2010. Her work on this topic is forthcoming (with Bloomsbury) in the volume: Shakespeare on the European Festival Stages, which she has been co-editing with Florence March and Paul Prescott.
