Helmer Helmers is lecturer in early modern Dutch literature and culture at the University of Amsterdam. A specialist in Anglo-Dutch cultural exchange, he has written various articles on the continental reception of Shakespeare, Milton, and Marvell, and is the author of The Royalist Republic. Literature, Politics and Religion in the Anglo-Dutch Public sphere, 1639-1660 (Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 2015). He is currently working on a project on public diplomacy in early modern Europe.
