{"id":743,"date":"2017-03-31T14:46:20","date_gmt":"2017-03-31T12:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sriss.uniroma3.it\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2023-07-04T08:24:52","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T06:24:52","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bacheca.uniroma3.it\/sriss\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/bacheca.uniroma3.it\/sriss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/04\/immagine_SRISS.jpg\" alt=\"SRISS\" width=\"1120\" height=\"641\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>SHAKESPEARE AND ROME INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL\u00a0 (SRISS)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">The Shakespeare\u2019s Rome Project<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Universit\u00e0 degli Studi Roma Tre<br \/>Dipartimento di Lingue Letterature e Culture Straniere<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The SRISS is an International Summer School dedicated to Shakespeare\u2019s Rome, a field of research deeply rooted in Roma Tre University as &#8220;The Shakespeare\u2019s Rome Project&#8221; (2004 &#8211; ).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The SRISS is open to both under-graduate and <\/strong><strong>post-graduate students<\/strong> (BA, MA, PhDs, Postdocs, ESL teachers).<\/p>\n<p>Within the Shakespearean corpus the image of ancient Rome works as the emblem of the classical past, a goldmine of foundational myths and the model of an authoritative culture early modern England felt compelled to look to. To Ancient Rome Shakespeare devoted five plays\u00a0(<i>Titus Andronicus<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Julius Caesar<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Coriolanus<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Antony and Cleopatra<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Cymbeline<\/i>) and a narrative poem (<i>The Rape of Lucrece<\/i>): the themes and motifs of these works will be examined in depth by renowned international Shakespearean scholars and practitioners from the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Silvano Toti Globe Theatre.
