He is the author of<i>\u00a0<\/i>two monographs \u2013\u00a0<i>Shakespeare and the Drama of Alterity\u00a0<\/i>(in Portuguese; 2003); and\u00a0<i>Poetry and Translation in Northern Ireland: Dislocations in Contemporary Writing<\/i>\u00a0(Houndmills: Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) \u2013 and the editor of several collections, among which\u00a0<\/span><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Translating Shakespeare for the Twenty-First Century\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-AU\">(Amsterdam and New York: Rodopi, 2004)<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0and<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><i><span lang=\"EN-AU\">Relational Designs: Page and Stage, Canvas and Screen<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-AU\">\u00a0(Amsterdam and New York: Rodopi, 2012).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-AU\">He has published extensively on contemporary Irish poetry, Early Modern English drama, Translation Studies, and intermediality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-AU\">As a literary translator, he has published annotated versions of Shakespeare (<i>Antony and Cleopatra<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Love&#8217;s Labour&#8217;s Lost<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-AU\">,\u00a0<i>Richard III<\/i>)<\/span><span lang=\"EN-AU\">\u00a0Christopher Marlowe (<i>Hero and Leander<\/i>), Seamus Heaney and Philip Larkin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-AU\">He is currently the Chair of ESRA, the European Shakespeare Research Association.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bionote Rui Carvalho Homem\u00a0is Professor of English at the University of Oporto, Portugal.
